The weapon pictured above is the M1 Garand
Rifle. It fires a .30-06 caliber round from an 8 shot internal clip
called an "en bloc"
that ejected when the weapon was empty.
The weapon above is a Thompson M1A1 submachine gun. It fires .45 caliber pistol ammunition from 20 and 30 round magazines and was very expensive to manufacture.
This is the M3 "Grease Gun" that was introduced in December 1943. It was cheaply made of stamped and welded steel parts and fired in the automatic mode only. It fires a .45 caliber round like the M1A1 Thompson. It was developed to replace the Thompson since it was much easier to make and much more cost efficient.
This is this M1A1 paratrooper carbine. It was developed to provide drivers, machine gunners, mortar men, and other "non-shooting" personnel a more suitable weapon than a pistol. It fires a .30 caliber carbine round. It has a folding stock and a 15 round magazine.
This is the Browning Automatic Rifle or BAR. The M1918A2 BAR fired .30 caliber ammunition from a 20rd box magazine and had two cyclic rates of fire, normal and slow.
This is the standard issue sidearm, the M1911 automatic pistol. It fires a .45 cal. round.
